Who is Vegius for?

Vegans, vegetarians, and anyone who wants to travel without compromising their values. You do not need to be strictly vegan to use it. Your agent adapts to how you actually eat and travel.

How is Vegius different from HappyCow?

HappyCow is a directory you search. Vegius is an agent that plans. It uses vegan-identified sources, builds a day-by-day itinerary around how you travel, and gives half of every paid plan to a sanctuary. Plenty of vegans use both, and we link out rather than compete.

Do I need an account?

Yes. Your agent belongs to your account, and so do your trip plans and your donation history. Creating an account is free.

Does Vegius book anything for me?

No. Vegius recommends and organises, you book directly with the venue or platform. That keeps our costs low, keeps you in control, and means we're not marking up anything.

Can I use Vegius outside English-speaking countries?

Yes. Plans work for any destination. The app itself is English only for now; more languages are on the roadmap.

Isn't AI bad for the planet? What about the water and energy it uses?

It's a real concern and we don't wave it away. Data centres use electricity and, for cooling, water. A trip plan on Vegius is a handful of short AI requests, small in absolute terms but not zero, and we treat it that way: we cap free plans, we don't run AI on anything a simple search could do, and we're moving to smaller, more efficient models as they become reliable. For scale, the water footprint of one animal-based meal is measured in hundreds of litres; a full Vegius plan is measured in millilitres. If a plan helps one trip stay vegan, the animals and the water both come out ahead. We'll publish our per-plan footprint estimate once we have a full quarter of usage data to base it on.

Which AI does Vegius use, and is my data used to train it?

Vegius currently uses OpenAI models through their API. Under OpenAI's API terms, data sent through the API is not used to train their models. Your plans are stored in your account and never sold or shared.

How does my agent work?

When you create your agent you answer a few questions about your diet, ethics, style, and interests. From then on, whenever you give it a destination, it builds a plan shaped around those answers. The more honest you are in setup, the better your plans get.

Every plan carries a score showing how sure we are about its recommendations. It reflects how well each place is documented as vegan or vegan-friendly. A lower score means check before you go, not that the place is wrong.

Yes. You can update your agent at any time, and new plans will reflect the changes.

Half goes straight to a partner animal sanctuary, verified through OM Guarantee so you can see the donation was real. The other half covers the AI and map costs of building your plan.

What are VeganScan's limits?

VeganScan reads what you give it. It cannot see hidden processing aids, cross-contamination, or labelling errors, and ingredient names vary between countries. When it says uncertain, it means exactly that. Treat every verdict as a well-informed second opinion, not a guarantee, and when the stakes are high, check with the manufacturer.

How accurate are the trip plans?

Your agent works from the best information available, and every plan carries a vegan confidence score so you can see where we are sure and where we are not. Restaurants close, menus change, and places evolve. We aim for honest confidence, not false certainty.

How does Vegius know a place is actually vegan?

We only draw from sources that identify as vegan or vegan-friendly, and we flag the difference. Fully vegan venues are marked as such; vegan-friendly ones are labelled so you know to check the menu. We never guess. If we're not sure, we say so or leave it out.
