Eden Sanctuary: Off-grid, tiny house in the Mallorcan Countryside!

Our tiny house is perfectly suited for two people (although we have had 3, but it’s cosy!) The house is cosy and peaceful, set in the Sanctuary where you will be surrounded by cats from the moment you arrive!  Definitely not for you if you have a cat allergy!  

Outside your front door you have goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks, a turkey and a donkey plus our lovely old dog with dementia.  All of them are living happily after being rescued from horrible circumstances.

Previous volunteers have loved the incredible views of the mountains and the peaceful surroundings.  This is a real retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily working life. 

During your stay, our accommodation provides a hot shower, WIFI, a small kitchen with a stove, kettle and all essential amenities provided, plus, of course, the company of many very friendly furry faces! The sanctuary manager, Nicole, is always available by phone to assist you with anything you might need.

In exchange for your free accommodation in winter months (October to April), we require just a few hours of your time to help us out and volunteer with the animals! 🙂 The work is easy, (and fun!); the rest of the day being yours to explore the island. It is not compulsory to be able to drive as a volunteer at our sanctuary, however it is definitely advised, due to the sanctuary house being situated offgrid, in the middle of the countryside. There is therefore limited public transport, although it does exist!             

We do ask that you join our patreon or teaming which you can do from just 1 EUR/dollar/GBP pcm and that you share with friends and family.  We receive no funding at all, we are all volunteers and the sanctuary is run by one person, who also works, so we need all the support we can get.

In summer months May to September there is a small charge for volunteer holidays.  This charge is 125 EUR pw for one or 200 for 2. 

Volunteer holidays and accommodation in Spain, especially Mallorca are VERY expensive, so we are sure that if you look around you will see what great value this experience is, plus, you know that every cent goes to the animals as no one here is paid.

The space

The sanctuary house is off grid; it is very important to be sparing with the limited energy that we have. Anything requiring heat has to be powered by a generator (for example a hairdryer.) Despite this, phones are able to be charged freely, the wifi is strong, there is hot water available, plus two gas rings and a small camping fridge for food storage.

Neighborhood

Set in the heart of the beautiful Mallorquian countryside, our sanctuary house is a true retreat surrounded by scenic mountain views. We are situated in Costitx, a small municipality on the island. With just a few minutes drive to the town centre, 30 minutes from the beach and a 40 minute drive to Palma, there is plenty to do for everyone!
We strongly advise car hire. There is public transport but it is limited.

Mallorca is absolutely stunning, all over. You have Inca just down the road with all the amenities you need. You can get into Palma in 30 minutes. Pollensa town and beach are 30 minutes away. Alcudia town is beautiful (not so much the beach). If you have time to explore the island take a car and go to Valldemossa, Deia, Soller town and port in a day- incredible! My favourite beach is Mondrago in the east. However, it is difficult to go wrong in Mallorca. We have it all. Beach, city, mountains, quaint villages, and better than all of that, the animals of the sanctuary who you are bound to fall in love with.
