The space
Hidden down a long track, this original farmhouse really is almost the middle of nowhere. Set in substantial grounds, there are good views from every window and a babbling brook runs right alongside it. The water comes from a nearby spring and the air is so clean you can see the Preseli Mountains 30 miles away.
You’ll enter via the porch where you can leave your coats and boots as well as meet the resident cat Chick Pea. You then come into a large and warm old farmhouse kitchen where the wood-fired Rayburn range cooker takes pride of place. There are slate worktops, exposed beams, quarry tiles with underfloor heating and all the facilities are discreet (dishwasher/microwave etc) so it’s just like walking into a period home. There’s even a NutriBullet so you can make great juices! At the other end of the kitchen is the dining area with a table for eight which is next to a beautiful fireplace. You’ll find all the crockery in the old dresser and the musically gifted can entertain you on the upright piano.
The next room is the lounge area - a cosy room with a wood-burning stove, a large sofa, vintage sofa bed, traditional games and a guitar. Then there’s a scullery which has a large fridge-freezer, Belfast sink, washing machine, a mangle and an ironing area. Behind that there’s a spacious downstairs toilet and wet-room which is suitable for people with reduced mobility.
Upstairs there are two generous double bedrooms with period details, one of them has yet another fireplace.
A third bedroom has a triple bunk (double with single above) and a dressing up box. The fourth bedroom is reserved for pirates - it is seaside themed and the bed is a ship!
All bedrooms have a spare mattress so if you need to squeeze in some extra people that's fine - there is an additional fee of £20 per person per night.
In the bathroom there's a luxurious cast-iron freestanding bath which two can soak in and see the sunset.
Throughout the house there are many old paintings of the surrounding area as well as vintage curiosities and a smiling Queen. Each room is painted in warm period colours using eco paints.
Towels and bedding are provided - as well as an initial basket of logs, extra baskets can be purchased cheaply.
There is five acres of grounds outside and spectacular walks are available from the door. In the meadow there’s a bonfire area and plenty of wood. On most days you can see the Milky Way.
In the outbuilding there’s a communal games room which includes a full sized pool table. The farmhouse has plenty of information on things to do in the area (sea, mountains, forests, lakes & castles!) but the best resource is the owner who will be happy to advise you on anything as he has lived in the area all his life.
This is a house notable for many reasons, it means Bramble Bush in English. You’re guaranteed to leave feeling healthy and with magical memories of your own!
Please note that during the current Covid pandemic, parties are not allowed. We all want to get back to normality, please stay safe and observe the government guidelines.
You’ll have full access to the farmhouse, separate pool table and five acres of grounds. There is plenty of room and you’ll always be able to find a quiet space!

Things to know
MEAT-FREE
This is a VEGETARIAN farmhouse - no meat, fish or poultry are allowed onsite and yes that includes barbecues!
Please use this as a chance to try some different plant-based food.
The kitchen is really well equipped and there are plenty of herbs, spices and cookbooks for inspiration - in the summer there is fresh veg available from the garden too.
On request I offer very tasty freshly-cooked meals and I can also organise arrival hampers and picnics - see below! If you are not seasoned veggie cooks then this will be the best meal you’ll find in the area. After a few days of this you should appreciate the lambs all the more and leave feeling refreshed and healthy!
If you really have a craving for meat then please support one of the many fine restaurants and pubs in the area.

If you have any special requests, think you deserve a special deal or the dates you want don’t seem available then please message me through this site.

There is good 3G and 4G signal.
Water comes from a nearby spring - you don’t need bottled water.
Only well-behaved dogs are welcome and they must only stay in the main downstairs room of the house - but there’s loads of room outside. Dogs are an extra £25.
THE ENVIRONMENT
The farmhouse is powered by green energy and onsite solar panels. Please respect the environment and use the recycling and compost bins properly! I hate food waste and please don't leave lights on when not needed!
FAMILY FRIENDLY!
This house is perfect for large families or two smaller ones!
NEW - HAMPER ON ARRIVAL
If you'd like to arrive to fresh veg from the garden and some basic provisions please ask and I'll organise that.
NEW - FULLY INCLUSIVE VEGAN FOOD AVAILABLE!
I’m now offering vegan meals (lunch and supper) for £15 per person per meal. If you’re not the best cooks or just can’t be bothered because you’re on holiday - ask me about this - it usually works best on the first night.
NEW - COURSES AVAILABLE AND LOOKING FOR COURSE ORGANISERS
This house is ideal for groups learning something - from yoga to music to team-building things. If you’re interested in running something in a tranquil and unusual environment then please message me.
THATCHED COTTAGE AND ECO CAMPSITE ALSO AVAILABLE!
If you’re looking for somewhere more intimate please see our separate listing for the nearby thatched cottage and campsite. By booking the entire place much larger groups are possible - although this must always be vegetarian!
Neighborhood
Carmarthenshire, Wales, United Kingdom
This old farmhouse is hidden down a long track in the middle of an unspoilt part of Wales. It is a farming area where Welsh is spoken everywhere, everyone knows everyone and the pace of life is gentle. The only sounds are sheep bleating and birds tweeting. You can see mountains to the south and west, houses are harder to spot!
The charming town of Lampeter is 4 miles away and has all the provisions (and pubs!) you might need during your stay. The stunning and unspoilt Ceredigion coast is 20 miles away while the Brecon Beacons, Gower and Pembrokeshire are an hour away. Cyclists are spoilt for choice on the many quiet country lanes or dedicated mountain bike trails nearby. Bike washing facilities and tools are available.
Wildlife lovers will enjoy the red kites and buzzards circling overhead and the abundance of rabbits and wild flowers in the adjoining meadow.
Some good ideas for days out are in the welcome pack but if you’re looking for something specific (castles with caves?) just ask, I’ve lived here all my life.
Getting around:
This is a rural area and you will need a motor vehicle to reach the property. There is ample parking next to the property and it’s also ideal for bikes. There are buses running from Lampeter to Aberystwyth, Llandovery and Carmarthen from where you can also connect with rail services. There are good taxi companies nearby or I may be able to pick you up.
