We work in wildlife conservation, animal rescue, anti-poaching patrols,  reforestation in the southern Nicoya Peninsula, designing and planting butterfly gardens, conservation of the jungle bee - Mariolas , volunteer program,
re-introduction of endangered species ( wild rabbit, pacas/tepezquintles, native quail,  chachalacas, pavon negro, green iguanas, and others … )  , biodynamic gardening in the tropics, co-creative gardening, native medicinals plants, frontline conservation activism to confront environmental criminals and gather evidence for their prosecution by working directly with the local judicial authorities.

The space

We have several lodging options for visitors. all are quite rustic.
All are great for people who enjoy getting close to nature , campers will be delighted.
1. Casita in butterfly gardens - no electric yet. we are installing the water now.
this house is a work in progress.
2. Campgrounds in butterfly gardens
the pricing slot didnt work for me so i am placing our pricing here >
We ask $10 US per person. nothing in advance.
We can plan some meals together. or not. up to you.
all lodging options have a cookstove.
We are priced so low because we want to share our lil piece of paradise with other vegans from around the world, and provide an option that works for any budget.
Longterm guests are welcome !

Things to know

SUGGESTIONS >
you dont need to speak Spanish to travel in Costa Rica. the people are very friendly and helpful, and many speak English.
If you need help with your travel logistics, please let us know, we will gladly help with suggestions.
Fly into ( San Jose ) Juan SantaMaria International Airport near Alajuela.
NOT Liberia.
We strongly suggest you stay in Alajuela, not San Jose, if an overnight is necessary before you continue your travels to our area the next morning. Alajuela is much closer to the airport.
We can send you a list of good B&B options in Alajuela, for varying budgets.
travel options to Cabuya de Montezuma, Cobano, on the Peninsula de Nicoya :
1. we recommend taking a shuttle – there are various companies that offer a shuttle transfer.
2. Direct Bus - There is a daily Direct Bus from San Jose to Cobano then on to Montezuma, then taxi to Cabuya, ( but catching the direct bus in Alajuela is extremely complicated ).
3. Taking a local bus from Alajuela to Puntarenas, then taxi to the ferry, another bus in Paquera to Montezuma, then taxi to Cabuya – this option is quite complicated and isn’t really cheap with all the taxis necessary.
4. take a short airplane ride from Alajuela to Tambor then taxi to Cabuya.
5. Rent a car at the airport in Alajuela. You will probably still need to overnight, depending on the arrival time of your flight into Costa Rica. Renting a car is really the best option, if it is in your budget. You can stop where you want to , see what you want to see, go where you want to go.
*
bring some good insect repellent and/or garlic oil capsules to keep the occasional mosquito here at bay. tho honestly insects are NOT a problem in our area !
bring a big shady hat and sunscreen for beach trips.
bring any Rx medicines you need, with the prescription bottle you can refill the meds easily at the local pharmacy.
WATER > bring a water filter and extra filters, if you do not want to budget $ for buying bottled purified water.
you need an ATM Bank Card with Visa or Mastercard link.
other types of ATM cards do not interact with the local bank.
